Who is KBPW?
Kennett Board of Public Works (KBPW), your city-owned utility company since 1941, provides the City of Kennett with electric, gas, water, sewer, and internet services. KBPW facilities and service systems include a 31 megawatt power plant, four electric substations, gas pipe lines, a water production and waste water treatment plant, and an expanding fiber optic communication system. KBPW provides services to approximately 6,000 residential and business customers and prides itself in having some of the lowest utility rates in the area.
KBPW is governed by a four member board whom are appointed by the mayor of Kennett and approved by the city council. The Kennett Board of Public Works is responsible for establishing KBPW’s policies and rules & regulations that govern the day-to-day operations of the utility system. Currently, the board consists of John Robertson, Randy Baker, Towny Sparks, and Tony Parr. The board meets two times each month at the KBPW office located at 303 South Anthony Street.
Jamie Chitester, Chief Executive Officer, manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of KBPW. The workforce of KBPW consists of around 60 employees who are members of seven different departments. KBPW employees are a part of this community and are ready to provide the City of Kennett with the best utility service possible.
Kennett Board of Public Works is a proud member of the American Public Power Association, the Missouri Public Utility Alliance, and the American Public Gas Association.
